New Rota Evens Out Workload

16th May 2020

Yet another busy week in the foodbank.

Stock continues to arrive from many different sources. The weekly delivery from Tesco in Liverpool is a big help and the new collection point outside St. Oswald’s vicarage in Oswestry continues to be popular. However, we still need donations of mashed potato, tinned potatoes, sauces and toilet paper. Donations can be made at Tesco in Ellesmere, Sainsbury’s and St. Oswald’s vicarage in Oswestry.

A new rota has been devised which spreads the load of deliveries across the week and this has the advantage of making the periods when the Foodbank is open to clients less hectic.

An article in the Oswestry and Borders Advertizer this week provided a means by which the Foodbank could say thank you to the community of people who generously support it. In what are difficult times for all of us, many people still find it possible to make gifts of both food and money.

In ‘normal’ times referrals to the Foodbank come from housing officers, social workers and schools. However, Covid 19 issues have affected people who have not previously had contact with these agencies. People experiencing severe difficulties can contact Welfare Support and Reform on 0345 678 9078 who can refer them to the Foodbank if necessary. Pensioners who need help can contact Age UK on 01743 233 123.
