This year for the first time, Oswestry and Borders Foodbank participated in ‘The Big Give Christmas Challenge’. The Big Give is an online organisation that runs match funding campaigns aiming to maximise and multiply charity donations. Local businesses came on board, pledging to match donations up to £1400. A Big Give Champion also gave their support pledging a further £1000 to the cause.
Thanks to the generosity of local individuals, businesses and churches, the match fund total was reached withing 48 hours! Donations continued to roll in however, along with gift aid and a further business pledge of an additional £1000!
Oswestry & Borders Foodbank are pleased to announce that the grand total raised from this campaign came to a fantastic £7369.50! Thanks to everyone who got involved and gave so generously to supporting local people in crisis this Winter. This money will go a long way to covering the estimated £10,000 cost of providing food and gift hampers to individuals and families facing hardship this Christmas.
